It’s claimed new short term letting rules coming into effect from today will have a detrimental impact on Clare’s tourism.
Following the Government’s move to designate the full country a rent pressure zone, short term lets will now be required to apply for special planning permission to continue to operate as normal.
It will leave thousands of Airbnbs in rural areas operating illegally this weekend, while in April cabinet signed of on a law that will eventually restrict short-term lets in areas where the population is above 10,000.
Ennis AirBnB Host Barry O’Driscoll has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that tourism here cannot survive without short-term lets.
