An air ambulance was dispatched along with other emergency services to a road traffic collision in Co Clare this afternoon.
The two-car crash occurred shortly after midday on the R474 at Shanavogh about 6 kilometres from Miltown Malbay.
One of the vehicles left the road following the collision leaving its driver trapped inside.
Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon station were mobilised to the scene along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí.
The HSE’s Cork-based Emergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance was also requested to attend the incident. Aeromed-01 was able to land in a field close to the scene.
Fire crews used specialist cutting equipment to help release the driver of one car after his vehicle left the road. The driver was however uninjured.
