AIB Accused Of Blocking Efforts To Sell Stake In Dromoland Castle

AIB has been accused of blocking efforts to sell a stake in Dromoland castle, owned by businessman Sir Anthony O’Reilly.

O’Reilly’s Bahamas bankruptcy trustee has also suggested that the liquidator of an O’Reilly family vehicle in Cyprus is also looking to push through the sale of another stake in the hotel.

The Irish Times is reporting details of a letter sent by trustee Alaistair Beveridge and filed with a court in the US and the paper reports that O’Reilly owns a personal stake in Dromoland, as well as another share via a Cayman Islands company.

Other O’Reilly assets are also being sold to satisfy creditors, but the Times suggests that the speculation surrounding Dromoland Castle resort could see the entire property sold.

Dromoland general manager Mark Nolan declined to comment when contacted by the paper.
