“No Future” For Clare Farmers Without EU Investment

The Clare County Chair of the ICMSA insists the future of farming here is in serious doubt without significant investment from Europe.

The latest Teagasc Farm Survey has revealed a 21% drop in farm incomes across the board in 2018, with the dairy sector, which suffered losses of 31% in farm incomes, the hardest hit.

O’Callaghan’s Mills farmer Martin McMahon says severe weather conditions is to blame for higher costs last year, while Brexit fears drove down cattle prices.
