Clare Councillors have joined with a growing number of their colleagues nationally in calling for the establishment of an independent meat regulator.
The call has come from the Beef Plan Movement, who say an independent regulator with real powers is required to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce.
That viewpoint was echoed by a number of Councillors this week, as elected representatives unanimously backed the motion of Councillor Alan O’Callaghan.
