Clare-Based ICSA Rep Says Food Production Costs Reaching ‘Unsustainable’ Levels

The Clare-based General Secretary of the ICSA says the cost of producing food is reaching an ‘unsustainable level’ for farmers.

It’s after the Government approved a package of supports for farmers to produce more native grain and protein crops in response to the crisis in Ukraine.

More than 12 million euro in funding is being provided, with the Department of Agriculture suggesting the measure will aim to ease challenges relating to the price of feed and fertiliser.
