Over 250 Fewer Farm Holdings In Clare In Space Of 10 Years

Concern has been expressed that the farming industry is ‘dying’ after its emerged that there are now 253 fewer farms in Clare than ten years ago.

New figures from Central Statistics Office show that the number of farm holdings in the Banner fell by 3% in 2020 from 6,550 to 6,297 in 2010.

Over the course of the decade, there were 1,351 fewer dairy cattle and 6,150 fewer other cattle.
