Clare farmers have been told there are no plans to open a part-time Department of Agriculture office on mart days in Ennis.
There has been no such service in the county since the Department’s former facility on the Kilrush Road in Ennis closed in April of last year, forcing farmers to travel to Raheen for administrative duties.
Clare representatives had hoped an outreach facility could be opened in the town, perhaps at Ennis mart, but in correspondence seen by Clare FM, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney has said there are no plans for this.
Kilnamona Councillor James Breen says the news will be very disappointing for Clare farmers.
