The Agriculture Minister is to meet with North Clare farmers to hear their concerns about a farming scheme designed to protect the Burren’s ecosystem.
Fears have been expressed that the average Burren farmer will lose between €7,000 and €8,000 under the ACRES initiative.

It’s after the Burren Programme, which is estimated to have contributed more than 20 million euro to the local economy, was ended by the Department.
Addressing questioning from Clare Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway in the Seanad, Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says the new scheme needs to be as open to access as possible.
