The Minister for Agriculture insists rural communities won't be forgotten when the government looks to resolve issues of flooding throughout the country.
Minister Simon Coveney visited Springfield, Clonlara yesterday as homeowners there continue to fight waters from the River Shannon, which have approached levels last seen in 2009.
He told Clare Fm that the management and maintenance of the river will be examined once the flood waters recede.
Meanwhile, President Michael D. Higgins will visit flood affected communities in Labane in South Galway today.

Last night 160 people in Athlone became the latest to be evacuated from their homes – after a ESB substation pillars along the River Shannon in the town became submerged in flood waters.
Before the residents of Bastion Quay apartment block were hit yesterday – 260 homes had been evacuated – and direct access had been cut off to approximately 130 houses around the country as a result of the recent flooding.
