After Feakle Conference, Italian Doctor Hails Importance Of Set Dancing For Parkinson’s

The Italian doctor who is spear-heading studies into how set dancing can be used to treat people with Parkinsons says it has proved more effective than traditional physiotherapy.

Neurologist Dr. Daniel Volpe made the chance discovery after watching a man set dance in a Feakle pub, and has returned there this week for a major international conference on the subject.

Following his discovery, Dr. Volpe began formal studies by organising set dancing classes for Parkinsons patients in Italy, and today he has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that this has proved to be very successful.
