Aerospace staff accept redundancy deal

 

Staff at Shannon Aerospace have voted in favour of the restructuring plan which will result in over a hundred job losses in Clare.

The deal brokered through the Labour Relations Commission means that 107 positions will be shed from the Shannon Airport based business and is part of a wider restructuring programme.

Shannon Aerospace, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, originally announced the job cuts in October and speaking after agreement at the LRC the company says the deal will safeguard the maximum number of positions in Clare

The company commenced operations in 1990 and, from January 2011, will have in excess of 540 employees.
