Aer Lingus has defended its decision to cancel more than 20 flights from Shannon Airport over the past two weeks.
Since October 10th, the airline has cancelled flights to New York, Boston and London, as well as their return legs, because of a shortage of aircraft.
Aer Lingus has cancelled 22 flights from Shannon over the past two weeks.
These included flights to and from New York, Boston and London.
In two separate incidents at Orlando and Boston Airports, the carriers transatlantic aircraft were grounded.
This resulted in the airline removing aircraft from Shannon to facilitate passengers on routes from Dublin.
Fridays and Sundays services to and from New York were the latest services to be cancelled.
In a statement, the airline says that "When such instances necessitate the cancellation of flights" they cancel within their "long haul schedule, which have the lowest number of bookings on that particular day".
Aer Lingus says this is to "minimise the number guests whose travel plans are disrupted."
