The number of adults living in homelessness in Clare and Limerick has surged by almost 20% in the space of a year.
The latest report published by the Department of Housing reveals there were 237 children living in emergency accommodation across the region in the last week of June.
A total of 79 adults were accessing emergency accommodation in Clare in the week of the 23rd to the 30th of June.
This shows a slight reduction from the previous month when 82 were recorded as homeless but is up on the figure of 74 for June 2024.
In the Midwest region, the figure for last month was 589 which is 18% above the number for the previous June.
The report also notes that 237 children in Clare and Limerick were residing in emergency accommodation.
This indicates a rise of 26% in a year.
