It’s hoped increased funding for the Text Alert Scheme will see a larger uptake of the programme.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has designated €50,000 towards reimbursing groups who set up the schemes, which facilitate quick communication between the Gardaí and local communities.
Up until now, each scheme received a maximum rebate of €150 – this announcement will mean that can now be extended.
