Active Retirement Ireland Claims Pension Issue Means Government Risks Losing Older Vote

The Shannon-based President of Active Retirement Ireland insists the government needs to address pension anomalies – or risk losing the ‘grey vote’.

Changes made in 2012 mean that women in particular who took time out of work to raise their families are losing out on around €35 a week in their pensions.

A major protest was held outside Leinster House calling on the Social Protection Minister to fix the problem, which is affecting around 40,000 people.
