The plan being announced today takes in counties Clare, Tipperary and Limerick and builds on the previously announced plans in other regions of the country.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys is travelling to Lisheen in Tipperary to officially launch it this morning.

The two-year project identifies five Strategic Objectives for the Midwest.

This includes making the Midwest Ireland’s leading Smart City-Region and developing a workforce and enhance the attractiveness of living and working in the Mid-West.

The plan will be monitored at a regional level to ensure local responsibility for its delivery, with the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation overseeing the process.

Once it concludes, it’s expected that the Midwest will see a new wave of employment that is of good quality and sustainable over the longer term.
