A Number Of Fires In Clare Started Due To Burning Cigarettes

Clare's Chief Fire Officer says a number of fires at homes in the county have started as a result of burning cigarettes.

The warning comes as part of Fire Safety Week which is taking place this week.

36 people die in Ireland each year as a result of fire, the majority of these fires occurring in the home.

Chief Fire Officer with Clare County Fire Service Adrian Kelly says smoke alarms are the number one preventative measure.
