90 People Without A Bed At University Hospital Limerick

There were 90 people waiting for a bed at the region’s main hospital this morning.

Figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 38 people were on trolleys in the Emergency Department alone of University Hospital Limerick while 52 were in wards elsewhere.

Cork University Hospital had the next-highest level of overcrowding with 74 people without a bed there while University Hospital Galway and Sligo University Hospital were the joint third busiest hospitals with 37 people waiting on a bed at each facility.

In total, 534 people were on trolleys at hospitals around the country this morning.
