Trolley numbers at the region’s main hospital are continuing to climb.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 88 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 48 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is 40 more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 459 patients were left waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
