87 On Trolleys At UHL – Highest Number Of Any Hospital Since Onset Of Pandemic

The region’s main hospital has more people on trolleys today than any facility since the onset of the pandemic.

87 people were waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick as of this morning according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

UHL is continuing to battle an outbreak of COVID-19 at the facility, with visiting restrictions continuing to be in place, while the emergency department is also understood to have been extremely busy over the last number of days.

It’s believed the UL Hospitals Group is continuing to implement its escalation plan which includes additional ward rounds and accelerating discharges.

INMO Midwest Representative Mary Fogarty is calling on the HSE to cancel all elective procedures at UHL and move them to private facilities.
