82 Asylum Seekers Now Accommodated At Lisdoonvarna Direct Provision Centre

82 asylum seekers are now being accommodated at the recently opened direct provision centre in Lisdoonvarna.

An additional 30 people arrived at the King Thomond Hotel this week, bringing the centre closer to its contracted capacity of 115.

The centre opened last month amid concern and controversy, and this week Clare FM’s Morning Focus is returning to Lisdoonvarna to hear the stories of asylum seekers, and also those who have welcomed them to North Clare.

One of the residents from the King Thomond, Carine from Cameroon, hopes she can be safe here.

And you can hear more from inside the Lisdoonvarna Direct Provision Centre on today’s edition of Morning Focus from 9 o’clock or check out out podcasts here.
