Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has reduced marginally today.
But University Hospital Limerick remains by far the busiest in the country, with 81 patients waiting for beds there this morning, according to the latest INMO figures.
The overall figure is 32 more than the next busiest facility.
It comes as a visiting ban has been introduced at the Dooradoyle facililty, due to outbreaks of both Covid-19 and the the flu.
Seven wards are currently affected and the hospital says all appropriate infection control precautions are being followed to minimise the risk of spreading infection among staff and patients in the hospital.
