80 On Trolleys AT UHL

Nurses say the region’s main hospital remains by far the busiest in the county today.

The latest figures form the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisations shows there were 80 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick, 57 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is 30 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital.

 

The UL Hospitals Group says there have been a high number of presentations to the hospital in recent weeks and is asking patients to consider their care options before attending the ED.

These include your GP, GP out of hours service and the Injuries Unit at Ennis Hospital, which is open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
