The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has eased slightly today.

However University Hospital Limerick remains by far the busiest in the country, according to the latest figures from the INMO.

Trolley numbers have been hovering around the 90 mark this week, but that number has dipped to 79 today.

57 of those waiting to be admitted to a bed were in the Emergency Department, with a further 22 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.
