77 refugees are to be accommodated in Scariff in the coming weeks.
The Lakelands Hotel is the site being planned to house “families, couples and single females” with the facility set to be opened in June.
It is understood further information will be made public prior to their arrival in East Clare.
Clare’s Oireachtas members are believed to have sought details from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth in relation to the move.
Clare is currently hosting the sixth highest total of Ukrainian Refugees nationwide with over 4,400 such Asylum Seekers in the county at the end of last month.
Scariff based Deputy Michael McNamara has been telling me while the development is positive for the community in East Clare he feels the county has faced unfair criticism in recent days.
