72 On Trolleys At UHL As Number Of Covid Patients Rises Slightly Over Weekend

The number of people waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital is almost two dozen higher than the next busiest facility as the week begins.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 72 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 38 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figures is only 4 fewer than last Friday, and comes on a day when 430 people were waiting to be admitted at hospitals around the country.

Meanwhile, the HSE’s daily operations report shows there were 89 patients who’ve tested positive for Covid-19 at the Dooradoyle facility this morning, up 3 on Friday’s figure, while ICU numbers have increased by 1, to 6.
