70 jobs created under Clare’s rural development programme

 

70 full-time jobs have been created in Clare under the EU LEADER Rural Development Programme in the last there years.

Figures from the Clare Local Development Company show 1.8 million euro was on community and enterprise projects in the county last year, bring the total spend under the scheme to 3 million since 2009 – a further 2.5 million has also been allocated to various projects.

As well as the 70 full-time positions, officials says hundreds of other jobs have been retained in established businesses as a result, while the funding has also helped community projects such as playgrounds and sports facilities

Another 5 million euro is to be spent here under this scheme from this year onwards, and Gerard Kennedy, Enterprise & Rural Development Manager with the CLDC says it will make a big difference.
