There’s been a seven percent jump in the number of secondary school pupils enrolled in Clare in the past four years.
8,850 students are now attending second level schools in this county.
The Central Statistics Office has been gathering data on secondary school attendance numbers since the 2017-2018 academic year, when 8,242 pupils were attending 18 different schools in Clare.
That number has grown steadily in the years since, and now stands at 8.850 as of September this year.
The CSO also tracks data on the nationality of those students, with around 90 percent of them classified as Irish.
446 pupils are attending secondary schools in Clare and are of EU nationality, with 132 from the UK.
A further 88 are considered to be from Asia and the Middle East, 64 from the US and Canada and 36 from Africa.
Just 12 counties have lower secondary school enrolment numbers than Clare, with this county’s figure standing at the lowest in all of Munster.
