There have been seven recorded cases of MRSA in patients at Ennis General over the past five years.

New figures collected from microbiology labs across the state show that Clare’s County Hospital dealt with just one case last year, down from 4 in 2011.
There were no recorded incidents of the superbug at Ennis in the previous two years – while one patient was treated for MRSA in the hospital in 2008.
Overall there’s been a 20 percent reduction in the illness across the health system since 2011 and 20 hosptials had no recorded cases last year.
