The estate has been officially opened this morning but most residents have been in situ here for a number of months.

Moínear consists of 18 two bedroom apartments, two one bed apartments, 37 two bed houses and 12 three bed houses.

The homes were delivered in partnership between Co-Operative Housing Ireland, Clare County Council, Ennis construction companies Datcha Construction and Glencore Construction along with other stakeholders.

Mayor of the Ennis Municipal District and Fianna Fail Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy says more such developments are needed at pace to in conjunction with the Ennis 2040 plan.

Residents of the new estate say they’re already building a community and getting to know their neighbours in the area.

Single mum Amanda Shannon’s husband passed away back in 2017, and she is now living here in a two bedroom house with her teenage son.

She says the development has given them a fresh start.

The Clare-based Chair of Co-Operative Housing Ireland says they are planning further developments for this county in the medium to long term.

It follows a similar development being launched by Co-Operative Housing Ireland in Newmarket-On-Fergus late last year.

Mountshannon-based Pearse O’ Sheil says they intend to continue delivery of accommodation at pace for Clare.
