Nurses say 61 patients have been left waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 43 patients were waiting on trolleys in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick this morning, with a further 18 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is the highest of any hospital in the country and is in excess of two dozen more than the next busiest facility.
