A leading US company has officially expanded to Clare today.

HID, which describes itself as a “worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions”, has announced the opening of a new logistics centre in Shannon which will support 55 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company first established itself in Ireland in Tully, County Galway in 2006, and is best known for providing the technology for Ireland’s passport card program which was the first of its kind to allow travellers to cross borders in Europe without a traditional passport booklet.
