The number of second-hand homes on the market in Clare has dropped by more than 60% in the last ten years.
A new analysis has shone a light on what’s been called a “concerning” reduction in the amount of second-hand properties for sale across Ireland – with this county appearing to be suffering worse than most.
Data from MyHome.ie shows that in July 2014, there were 24,750 second-hand dwellings for sale in Ireland.
Ten years on, this is down by 50% to just 12,477.
Munster has been hit particularly hard by this trend with the number of available second-hand properties here having reduced by 61% from 8,492 in 2014 to 3,329 last month.
An even more striking drop has been observed in this county as just 279 such homes were for sale here last month compared to 749 a decade ago – indicating a reduction of 63%.
311 second-hand homes were on the market in Clare last July meaning within the last year alone, the number has dropped by over 10%.
