Hospital trolleys

Nurses say 57 patients were left waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital as a new week begins.

University Hospital Limerick continues to be the most overcrowded in the country, with 34 patients on trolleys in the Emergency Department and a further 23 in overflow areas of wards.

The latest figures from the INMO show the overall figure is 15 more than the next busiest facility, on a day when 488 people have been left waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
