55 New Homes Built In Clare In Second Quarter

According to the CSO, there were 36 single dwellings built in Clare last year.

This refers to houses on their own, while an additional 19 were built in estates.

In the three-month period from April to June, no new apartment developments were constructed here.

The total of 55 is the lowest figure in the MidWest in the second quarter of the year, with 141 constructed in Limerick and 57 in Tipperary.

However, it’s up slightly on the same period last year, when 52 new homes were built.

But perhaps concerning is the low level of activity in the west of the county – just five of the homes were completed in Kilrush and its surrounding areas in that time.

In all, 7,909 dwellings were completed in the first half of the year even though experts have estimated that we need to build between 20 and 30 thousand annually to deal with the housing shortage.
