Five dentists in Clare have stopped offering care to medical card holders since the beginning of the year.
19 dentists were employed under the Dental Treatment Services Scheme in January, then the HSE’s monthly contractor reports showed this figure dropped to 17 in June.
However, new figures from Mid West Community Healthcare that number has fallen by a further three to 14 – making that a drop of five in the space of six months.
