The number of people currently waiting for cataracts procedures at the region’s main hospital has trebled in the first quarter of this year.
New figures released through the Oireachtas show 464 people are on waiting lists at University Hospital Limerick.

That’s up from 151 at the end of 2021, though is a significant drop on the 879 people that were waiting at UHL at the end of 2016.
3,850 people are waiting for cataracts procedures nationwide as of the end of March.
