It’s expected the speed limit on one of Clare’s national secondary roads will be reduced from 100 to 80km/h in the near future.
As of the implementation of the speed limit review at the beginning of November, the default speed limit on all local and rural roads has dropped from 80 to 60km/h while urban roads are down to 30km/h.
It’s now up to councillors and local authorities to decide if their local national secondary roads’ speed limits will see a reduction, and Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon has called for additional safety measures at an accident black spot in Annagh on the N67.
The West Clare Municipal District has said it believes the speed limit on the N67’s speed limit will be reduced to 80km/h, and Councillor Shannon believes this can’t come quick enough.
