New figures have shown strong growth levels in the number of people employed by Clare-based exporters.
Nearly 400 additional staff were hired by Enterprise Ireland client companies here last year, as Clare FM’s Sally-Ann Barrett reports.
It was already known that Enterprise Ireland’s clients in the MidWest recorded strong growth last year.
But these figures, released to the Dáil, show Clare represent a first county-by-county breakdown.
And it makes for positive reading from a Clare perspective – 4,100 staff now work for EI firms here, up by 393 on the figure for 2017.
That increase is the fourth highest of any county, trailing only Dublin, Limerick and Waterford.
It’s also the third straight year of growth in employment levels here, after a marginal fall in 2015.
Enterprise Ireland is responsible for supporting Irish businesses who trade internationally, and the agency paid a total €1.71m in supports to its Clare client companies last year, half the amount of the year before.
