Electric vehicle grants in Clare fell by 40% last year.
New data released by the Department of Transport also shows that more than 200 EV grants have been paid in the county in 2025 to date.
Grants for battery-powered electric vehicles as well as home charging stations are available through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
As of July 29th, a total of 209 electric vehicle grants have been paid in Clare this year.
This indicates a stronger opening seven-month period than last year, with just 223 grants paid in the county across the entirety of 2024.
By comparison, a whole 372 grants were received by Clare people in 2023, meaning there was a drop of 40% last year.
This county has benefitted from a total of 1,279 such grants since 2021.
The average vehicle cost for a private EV grant last year was €45,620.
