Almost half of all US passengers that jetted in Ireland through Shannon Airport last year, holidayed in Clare
New Red C Poll research shows Clare was the county most visited by tourists from the states- who spend on average 60 percent more than other visitors here.
The statistics coincide with new passenger figures which show a massive 38 percent hike in the number of US nationals who jetted into the Mid West airport in June – compared with the same month last year.
Overall, numbers grow to 160,573 and European services contributed significantly to the increase, up 18 percent on last June.
The boost in US flights through Shannon is playing a significant role in the hike but Airport CEO Neill Pakey says its not the only factor
