3,700 Now Known To Have Died In Nepal Earthquake

Police say more than 3,700 people are now known to have died in Nepal following the devastating earthquake that struck on Saturday.

 
Authorities say they're 'overwhelmed' by the disaster in Nepal, with thousands of people injured and homeless.
 
Up to 70 percent of houses were destroyed in the 7.9 magnitude earthquake which struck at midday yesterday, during the country's busy trekking and climbing season.
 
Aid is starting to arrive to thousands of people who are living outside because it's too dangerous to enter their homes.
 
100 Irish people are believed to have been caught up in the quake and the Department of Foreign Affairs says contact is being made with many of the people affected.
 
A 24-year-old from Newry is believed to be missing in Nepal following a deadly earthquake there.
 
The Red Cross says Oliver McKevitt hasn't been located since the disaster struck on Saturday.
 
The names of those who have yet to make contact have been posted on the Irish Red Cross's missing person's facility – familylinks.icrc.org.
