The number of patients waiting over 18 months for an appointment at Ennis General Hospital has increased by 35% since April.
The latest figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show over 32,000 people are awaiting outpatient and inpatient services in the MidWest.
At the end of May, 22,565 adults were waiting for outpatient appointments at University Hospital Limerick, with a further 3,462 on the inpatient list.
The most in demand services were Dermatology, Gynaecology, Vascular Surgery and Ophthalmology , accounting for 36% of all patients on Dooradoyle’s waiting list.
While more than a quarter of the patients in line to see a Dermatologist there are now waiting over a year.
There were also more than 4,500 children on a waiting lists at UHL, with 1,072 waiting more than a year for appointments.
At Ennis General, meanwhile, 1,782 adults in total were awaiting appointments at the end of April, as well as 71 children.
More than half of patients in the county town are on the Cardiology waiting list, with 107 waiting for more than a year and a half to be called, two more patients are waiting this length of time for small volume specialities.
While two children on the Ennis list have been waiting over 18 months for a paediatric appointment.
The 111 patients waiting 18 months or more for appointments in the county town at the end of May is up 35% on April’s figure of 72.
