32 People Charged With Burglary In Clare In First Nine Months Of 2025

Calls have been made for stiffer penalties to be handed out to those found guilty of repeat burglary offences, which it’s claimed disproportionately target older people in this county.

New figures from the Irish Courts Service show 32 people appeared before local courts in Clare on burglary charges in the first nine months of 2025.

Of the 32 local jurisdictions surveyed, Ennis ranked 13th highest for the number of people before the courts between January and September.

Ireland South MEP, Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, says too often temporary releases are being granted numerous times to the same perpetrators.
