Three Clare publicans have reached separate settlements with the Revenue Commissioners after they were declared as tax defaulters.
The largest of the settlements has been paid by John Redmond of Circular Road, Kilkee. He has furnished the Revenue with 100 thousand euro, over 21 thousand of which was as a result of penalties.
Michael O’Mara, of O’Curry Street Kilkee, paid over 12 thousand euro of penalties as part of his settlement while Patrick Reddan of Main Street, Killaloe struck a settlement of almost 36 thousand euro, over 7 thousand of which was as a result of penalties.
The Revenue says the payments came following audits which showed an under declaration of Income Tax and VAT.
Nearly 15 million euro was collected from 90 tax defaulters in the final three months of last year.
