Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man died and two others were seriously injured in a three car crash in Co. Longford.
The collision happened at around 5 o’clock yesterday evening on the N5 between Longford and Tarmonbarry, close to Longford Town Football Club.
Three men were taken to hospital – where a 45 year old man was pronounced dead.
Two other men – aged in their 20s and 40s – are said to be in a serious condition.
The drivers of the other two cars sustained only minor injuries.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an elderly man has died after he was hit by a truck in Co. Meath.
The pedestrian, who’s in his 80s, was crossing the Drogheda Road in Slane at around 3.30 yesterday afternoon, when he was struck by the vehicle.
He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
