The Brazilian government has declared three days of national mourning after at least 232 people were killed in a fire at a nightclub in the university city of Santa Maria.

Reports from Brazil say 800 people were packed into the nightclub at the centre of the weekend inferno thought to have been started by a pyrotechnics display.
Its believed most of those killed choked on toxic smoke.
The club had just one working fire exit.
