3 people have been arrested by gardai in connection with an incident in which a Scarriff man was seriously injured after being pulled along by a moving vehicle.
The incident occoured on Tuesday night after a youth attempted to flee an off-licence in the East Clare village without paying for his purchases.
Gardai say the young man got into a nearby car parked outside the premises but the father of the licencee then followed him and held onto the car as it sped away and was dragged for about 30 yards.
He sustaind head injuries and is being treated at Limerick Regional Hospital
Gardai say the car was later recovered and yesterday evening three people were arrested and files are being prepared for the DPP.
Inspector John O Sullivan of Killaloe Garda Station is appealing for witnesses.
