A new report has found that one in five state-funded places in Clare creches have gone unused.

The state invested over 180 million euro to create 25,000 creche and childcare places nationwide between 2006 and 2011, with 1400 in 28 Clare facilities.
Howeer, a report on this program by PObal has found that only 80% of these were taken up here, a rate which was slightly lower than the national average.
